Boliakis Michail
Born in 1956 in Alexandroupolis, where he lives and works as a photographer, he has been photographing since 1975. From 1985 to 1997 he taught photography at the People's Education Department in Alexandroupolis.
He has held eleven solo exhibitions, five in Alexandroupolis, two in Athens, and one each at the Schabes Gallery in Chicago, Thessaloniki, Komotini and Mytilene. He has also participated in various group exhibitions in Alexandroupolis, Kastoria, Syros and Germany. In 1997, his book entitled "Alexandroupolis" with black and white photographs of the daily life of the city was published by Kastaniotis Publications.
In 1998 he participates with nine photographs in the book Photo Presentations published by Leica Academy. He also participated in the albums Greek Wetlands, published by Emporiki Bank, 1996 and Monuments of primitive Christianity, a publication of EPAD Alexandroupolis 2000.
Since 1992 he has been travelling frequently to Cuba in order to collect photographic material for the publication of an album on the daily life of the Cuban people, published by Kastaniotis in 2001 under the title "In Cuba".
Finally, in June 2010, a small color book of his entitled "COLORE CUBANO" was published by KEDIFOT Thrace. He has served as vice president and treasurer of the center and is one of the founding members of the Center for Creative Photography Thrace.
