The Centre for Creative Photography of Thrace in the television show Perimeter on ERT3
The chairman of the Board of Directors of the Centre for Creative Photography of Thrace, Demosthenes Karageorgiou, had the pleasure to talk about the custom of the Clasps of Alexandroupolis in the broadcast "Perimeters" of ERT3.
In a live link with ERT's studio and with journalist Eleni Kampaki, the historical and cultural significance of this unique celebration was highlighted, while the live link was made by correspondent Dimitris Stamatakis.
The custom of the Mangals, which takes place every New Year's Eve, is now a tradition and began in 1945 with the liberation of Alexandroupolis. It has been established as a symbol of rebirth and vitality for the city.
The shopkeepers of Emporiou Stree placed mangals outside their shops, roasting delicious pork cuts and salted lard. The atmosphere was filled with smells, laughter, music and good wishes. Horns, clarinets and bagpipes accompanied the festivities, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.
Mangal was not limited to a simple celebration, but highlighted the value of solidarity, unity and tradition, offering unique moments of joy to locals and visitors alike.
The Centre for Creative Photography of Thrace expressed its gratitude for the hospitality and the opportunity to highlight this important aspect of Alexandroupolis' cultural heritage.
